About Ashtanga Yoga
Through the practice of correct breathing (Ujjayi pranayama), postures (Asana) and gazing point (Drishti), we gain control of the senses and a deep awareness of ourselves as the body produces an intense internal heat and purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body and a calm mind.


About Gillian
Gillian has recently returned from her 9th trip studying at the Shri. K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, Mysore, India under the direct supervision of her teacher, R. Sharath Jois. She has completed an Intensive Teacher Training Course and she has received Level 2 Authorisation to teach both the Primary and Intermediate series.

She has also had the unique opportunity to assist her teacher in his daily classes at the Shri. K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute and continues to travel there annually to further her studies. She is passionate about imparting this traditional yoga system in a way that makes it accessible to people of all ages and levels as she learned it from her teacher in India.

She has also spent many years studying the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Chanting and Philosophy with Dr. M.A. Jayashree and Prof. M.A. Narasimhan of the Ananta Research Foundation in Mysore, India and she has received their blessing to teach.
